My colostomy sure is unbelievable. Shortly after I got it, I went on a vacation that was unBELIZEable! Yes, I did get a wish by the Make a Wish foundation to Belize, and let me tell you it was awesome! But before I get into all that, you all are probably wondering why I picked such a place. Well, that was sort of a compromise between two things I always really wanted to do: go snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef and to see the great Egyptian pyramids. However, since the Great Barrier Reef is located in Australia (half way around the world) I decided that wasn’t the number one choice. Then we have the Egyptian pyramids. But as you can tell by the current news, Egypt isn’t necessarily a safe place to travel right now. So I went with the next best thing, Belize! Belize is home to the second largest barrier reef and several Mayan ruin sites. This was to me, a diamond in the rough.
While I was there, my family and I went snorkeling. We saw sharks and even these massive loggerhead turtles. You can see my older brother Ronny going down to touch it.
I could not believe the beauty of the native wild life in Belize. We did many other things that you could only do in Belize like going to the Jaguar reserve and seeing indigenous palm trees. Anyway, I will be going back to writing posts about ostomies next month. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
